With Shedeur Sanders leaving the Colorado Buffaloes and entering the NFL Draft, the Buffaloes are looking to continue to have an effective quarterback room next year. On Wednesday, CU landed Liberty Flames junior transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter.Â
In the last two seasons, Salter has put up 4,762 passing yards, 1,676 rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns and 47 passing touchdowns, with the 2023 season being his breakout year. The Cedar Hill, Texas native was named the Group of Five Player of the Year by HERO Sports. He also earned All-Conference USA honors and the C-USA regular season MVP in 2023.Â
As a sophomore, Salter led the Flames to an impressive 13-1 record, with the only loss being to the Oregon Ducks in the Fiesta Bowl. Liberty also went 8-0 in conference play and won the Conference USA title against New Mexico State. Salter won MVP of this championship game with 319 passing yards and two touchdowns. Despite struggling this past season, Salter is a dual-threat quarterback with three years of starting experience in college football.
The Buffaloes also previously landed quarterback Julian Lewis, a four-star high school quarterback from Georgia. Lewis was the No. 2 recruit on the 2025 ESPN 300, a highly sought-after prospect who was committed to USC and heard from other colleges like Auburn and Georgia. During his four years in high school, Lewis threw for 10,677 yards and 142 touchdowns.Â
The starting quarterback spot for the Buffaloes will be very competitive, and it will be exciting to see who becomes the QB-1 for Colorado in 2025.
