Buffs women’s hoops lands top Colorado recruit

Colorado basketball landed a top state recruit.
“I’m really excited,” four-star recruit Sienna Williams from Monarch (Colo.) High School told BuffBlitz.
Williams announced her commitment to the University of Colorado Boulder on Sunday. She chose the Buffaloes over Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, Michigan and North Carolina.
This is the first Colorado high school recruit rated four stars or higher to commit to Boulder since Kindyll Wetta in 2021.
Williams, a 6-foot-4 forward from Louisville, Colorado, is ranked as ESPN’s 51st recruit in the nation and is Colorado’s top recruit. She averaged 24.3 points and 13.8 rebounds per game for Monarch High School last year.
She is the first commit for the Buffs in the class of 2027 after not landing any three-star or higher in the class of 2026.
“I’ve just been a Buff kind of my whole life,” Williams said. “I’ve gone to all the games, all the women’s basketball games and I’ve kind of just always been around it. I think it’s always been kind of my dream.”
Williams also averaged over two assists, two steals and four blocks per game for the Coyotes last year. She played only 12 games her junior year, according to her MaxPreps profile, but led her team to the 6A playoffs in2025 as a sophomore.
Last year, Williams set a new career-high in a game, scoring 34 points and grabbing 21 rebounds with five blocks. Her career-high in boards came during her sophomore year when she had 30 rebounds, including 10 from the offensive glass.
She’s had 31 double-doubles in 36 games over the last two years, and her 48 career double-doubles are 17th all-time in Colorado history. That explosiveness combined with consistency will certainly attract college scouts for Colorado’s top women’s hoops prospect.
Colorado has struggled to recruit in-state, offering but failing to land the state’s top two prospects, five-star Brihanna Crittendon and four-star Peyton Jones from the class of 2026. The two committed to Texas and Utah, respectively. Crittendon created some buzz for the Buffs, having Colorado in her final six.
Even from the class of 2025, Colorado’s No. 3 prospect, Brooklyn Stewert, chose Oklahoma after receiving an offer from the Buffs. The trend even goes back to the class of 2022 with top-10 nationally ranked Raegan Beers, who had Colorado in her final five, but chose Oregon State instead.
CU retained much of its roster from last year, including guard Zyanna Walker, forward Logyn Greer and Claire O’Connor, who could be impactful in the upcoming season for the Buffs. Williams could fit nicely into the squad as a rotational forward come 2027.
Head coach JR Payne played a big role in Williams choosing CU.
“I’ve always had a really great relationship with [Payne],” Williams said. “In the recruiting process, it grew a lot more. She’s awesome, and she’s very close with my family, too. So it kind of just made sense for me to play for someone that I’m truly so grateful for.”
Excitement surrounds Boulder, Colorado, as the Buffs are in the final six for four-star or higher commits during the past two years.
