Rumors of Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders making his way to the NFL have continued to circulate through the offseason. This time, there may be more credence to those claims, as there’s been communication between him and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about their open head coaching position Sanders himself said was “intriguing.”

Sanders is currently entering the third year of the five-year deal he signed with Colorado while both of his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, are scheduled to make the leap to the NFL via the draft this April. According to FOX Sports analyst and former Colorado quarterback Joel Klatt, the school has offered Sanders a “very, very, very good offer” that has yet to be signed. The details of that extension are unknown, but whether Sanders is holding out for an even bigger deal, or holding out for an official job offer from the NFL is only known to him and his camp.

This comes less than a week after an official report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal came out that Coach Prime had a very real interest in the Las Vegas Raiders coaching job, though it has since been reported that the feelings were not mutual.

Sanders clearly has his eyes on making the leap to the NFL eventually, but to this point, he only publicly entertained the idea if he were able to follow his sons and coach them at the next level. That would make his interest in the Raiders logical but calls into question the authenticity of those remarks if he’s truly entertained by the Cowboys' potential offer, who are slated to pick 12th in the upcoming draft.

Polymarket Sports currently has Sanders as the second most likely candidate for the Cowboys job, only behind former Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Sanders spent five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys as a player where he won Super Bowl XXX and made four All-Pro teams. He has maintained that he “loves Boulder and everything there is about our team,” but it now seems like it may just be a matter of time before there's mutual interest in an NFL position.
