The Colorado men’s basketball program has landed their fourth recruit of the 2025 freshman class following the hard verbal commitment from combo guard Josiah Sanders on Monday morning.
The three-star commit (247Sports Composite) announced his commitment to On3, choosing the Buffaloes over Tennessee, San Diego State, Northwestern and Stanford.
Sanders comes out of Colorado Prep in Denver and every mainstream recruiting database ranks him a top-150 recruit in the 2025 class. 247Sports and ESPN rank him a four-star while Rivals and On3 rank him a three-star. He is the consensus best player in the state.
The combo guard was a competing prospect at Under Armor Rise this past summer, a league-style circuit showcasing select U17 players. Sanders averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
Given his performance at Colorado Prep and UA Rise, the 6-foot-4 recruit looks to be a reliable contact guard who’s willing to play inside the paint when Colorado needs him to.
Why Colorado over his other offering schools?
“I chose Colorado because of their track record of putting players in the NBA,” Sanders told On3. “At the end of the day, that’s the main goal and I feel like they can develop me and push me to get me to where I want to go!”
Tad Boyle and the Buffaloes organization have sent no shortage of players into the NBA, as notable alumni include Alec Burks, Spencer Dinwiddie and Jabari Walker.
The standout alum from Boyle’s NBA guys, Derrick White, earned both a championship ring with the Boston Celtics and a gold medal for Team USA in the same summer, certainly turning heads for possible recruits.
The Buffs added three more names to the pros this spring, with Cody Williams, Tristan Da Silva and KJ Simpson taken in the 2024 NBA draft, a selling point for recruits from Boyle and the Colorado organization.
The Buffaloes’ 2025 recruiting class, also including Jalin Holland, Ian Inman and Isaiah Johnson, will join the squad next season after what should be a transitionary 2024 campaign following the departure of many top players in the offseason.
The current freshmen class will take the court this Saturday for the black and gold scrimmage at 5 p.m. MT, with the likes of Andrew Crawford, Felix Kossaras and Sebastian Rancik expected to fill important minutes for the black and gold.
