With the sound of sticks on ice and scrambles to take possession of the puck, the Colorado Buffaloes’ Friday night Division II hockey game against the Montana State Bobcats at Promenade Ice Center in Westminster went according to plan. The final score was 4-1 in favor of CU.

The first period got off to a slower start, with both teams getting warmed up and the Buffs playing both offense and defense fairly evenly.  Both teams attempted to build up a lead early on, taking quite a few shots and keeping the goalies warm.

With eight minutes left of the first period, the first goal went up on the board for the Bobcats. The Buffs were unable to match the score in the period.

The second period brought more fire from the Buffs, desperate to even up the score. With 13:32 left, the Buffaloes did just that, as Joshua Genin tallied their first goal and evening up with the Bobcats.

The Buffs had started the period on the defensive but quickly switched it up, pushing the puck hard down the rink. This offensive work paid off towards the end of the period when CU scored once more, with Dominic Aliaksandrov putting them ahead of Montana.

The third period brought more energy from both teams, picking up their intensity and taking any opportunity to stop the puck from moving up the rink. Very early in the period, Genin scored again, bringing the score to 3-1.

Throughout the period, both sides began to tire out and loosen their stick work. With less than two minutes to go, the Bobcats left an empty net, but Arthur Street took full advantage to put up CU’s fourth and final point of the game.

The CU Buffs went on to play the University of Providence on Saturday, but fell 4-1
