Two of the Colorado Buffaloes’ top contributors hopped into the transfer portal this Easter.
Colorado’s leading scorer, guard Desiree Wooten, and former preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year forward Tabitha Betson announced their entry into the portal on their social media Sunday.
Wooten averaged 13.4 points per game in her one season with Colorado while also leading the team with 2.6 assists. She gained national attention for her dynamic bucket-getting while coming off the bench for the Buffaloes.
She helped lead Colorado to an NCAA Tournament appearance, where she scored 17 points in their first-round exit. Overall, Wooten scored single-digits in just six games this season, with three 20-point games. Her play earned her All-Big 12 honorable mention.
“First, I want to start by thanking God, my family, teammates and the entire CU staff for their support and belief in me,” Wooten said on her Instagram. “My time here has helped me grow on and off the court … After careful thought and consideration, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining.”
Betson averaged 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in two seasons with the Buffaloes. After her freshman year, she returned to her home country of Australia. After spending the offseason and most of Colorado's non-conference schedule Down Under, she returned to the team in December.

She provided much-needed frontcourt depth for the Buffaloes while scoring double-digits in three games this season. She was a coveted recruit, ranking in the top 50 of ESPN’s Top 100 and being a McDonald's All-American nominee.
“Thank you, Buff Nation. It was not an easy choice to make, but after serious reflection, I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal,” Betson said on her social media. “My heart is full of gratitude for the support and friendship you have shown me over my two years at Colorado.”
While two have entered, Colorado has had three players announce they are returning for the 2027 season. Freshman center Jade Crook, alongside guards Kennedy Sanders and Zyanna Walker, are among the returners.
Walker was the second part of a backcourt tandem with Wooten, averaging 11.3 points per contest on 42.3% shooting. Sanders' year got cut short after suffering season-ending hip surgery, while Crook will likely compete for a spot in the Buffaloes' depleted frontcourt in 2027.
