The Colorado Buffaloes added a key piece to their defensive unit through the transfer portal on Monday. CU landed Alabama Crimson Tide defensive tackle transfer Jehiem Oatis.

Oatis is considered by 247Sports to be the number one ranked defensive lineman in the transfer portal, making this a massive steal for the Buffaloes.

In his two years at Alabama, Oatis had totaled 57 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 5 passes defensed. The incoming junior listed at 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds would be an immediate starter and could have a considerable impact next year on the Colorado defensive line.

With the transfer portal now open for college football, the Buffs are looking to capitalize on key recruits. Colorado is looking to continue making their defense more formidable for next season ranked second in the Big 12 conference in sacks, first in quarterback pressures per game, and third in pass breakups per game in 2024.
