The Colorado Buffaloes wrapped up the field portion of the Colorado Classic on Friday, with three athletes competing.
In the women’s weight throw, senior Amanda Opp started off the day with a fourth-place finish. Her best throw of 17.21 meters came on the second attempt and put her below three Colorado State throwers. Twenty-five other athletes made up two flights in the event.
In a competitive men’s weight throw that featured four marks over 20 meters, senior Lucas Williams found a 6th-place finish. On his final attempt of the afternoon, he launched an 18.98-meter throw to earn his spot. The finish was well-earned in a pool of 33 participants.
Junior Alaina Fantaski also threw a personal best 8.29-meter toss in the women’s shot put. She did not qualify for finals.
The Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) hosted jumps, pole vault and throws, with the Buffs only participating in throws. Saturday, the meet will continue with hurdles, sprints, distance and relays, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
