Although it may be the offseason, a handful of games are queued up for the Colorado Buffaloes’ volleyball team. All games are scrimmages and will be played between late March and mid-April.
All five scrimmages will be held in Colorado. The Buffs are scheduled to first face the Northern Colorado Bears in Greeley on March 28 at 11 a.m. MT. Immediately after at 12:30, CU faces the traveling Wyoming Cowgirls.
On April 4, the Buffs will meet last season’s win streak wreckers: the Colorado State Rams. Colorado will host the Rams at the CU Events Center at 11 a.m. MT. The Black and Gold will then meet once more in the offseason, but this time on Rams’ territory on April 18, at 11 a.m. MT as well. In the fall 2025 season, the Buffs fell twice to the Green and White, both at home and in Fort Collins.
Finally, the Buffs will wrap up their offseason scrimmages with a duel against the University of Denver Pioneers, also set for April 18 (time TBA) in Fort Collins. The in-state matchups allow for a competitive, low-maintenance and skill-building opportunity for the Buffs.
"Spring is such an important time for our program," head coach Jesse Mahoney said in a team release. "It's when we get to slow things down, focus on development, and really invest in our culture. This spring schedule gives our team the opportunity to compete, grow and continue building toward the standard we expect at Colorado. We're excited to get back in the gym and can't wait to have Buff fans back with us this spring."
This past season, the Buffaloes were 23-9 overall and 12-6 in conference play. Colorado also made it to the NCAA Tournament this past December, where they swept American University before falling to the Indiana Hoosiers in the second round of the tournament.
