Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball defeated the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks in blowout fashion, 75-55, on Sunday.

The Buffaloes had four players in double digits, with three starters leading the charge. Senior forward Jade Masogayo scored 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting alongside six rebounds.

Freshman Logyn Greer earned her first career double-double, tallying 12 points and 12 rebounds with three steals and a block. Rhode Island transfer Anaelle Dutat added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Colorado outrebounded the Redhawks 43-21, with 13 from the offensive glass. The Buffaloes were active on the interior with 42 points in the paint, going 14-for-20 on layups.

Forward Tabitha Betson returned after leaving the team this past summer. The Australian snagged two rebounds and an assist in seven minutes. North Texas transfer Desiree Wooten also added 10 points off the bench.

Colorado’s defense held Miami of Ohio to 19% from beyond the arc, its lowest mark of the season.

“Really proud of our team. I definitely think this is the best we've played," head coach JR Payne said. “I'm really proud of how we played great on the glass. To hold this team to 19% in three-point shooting is unbelievable… We executed the game plan really well tonight.”

On their first three possessions, the Buffaloes turned the ball over twice before Zyanna Walker opened up scoring on a coast-to-coast layup. Colorado went on an 11-2 run to push its lead to 10 off a 6-for-8 start from the field.

After a Wooten pull-up 3-pointer and a Masogayo second-chance layup, the RedHawks would finish out the first quarter on a 9-2 run, slimming the Buffaloes’ 13-point lead to six at the end of the first. Colorado finished with 20 total turnovers to 16 assists

“I was actually really surprised that we had so many [turnovers],” coach Payne said. “We just have to look at them… I think being able to watch them and players being able to see them and be like ‘Oh yeah, she wasn’t really open’... So I’m not going to worry about it other than just making sure we’re prioritizing practice and watch them so we can learn from them.”

Miami started the second quarter missing its first seven shots, allowing Colorado to go on a 13-0 run. The RedHawks finally ended the run with two free throws before they put Colorado into bonus with five minutes left in the first half, facing a 17-point deficit.

Miami then knocked down back-to-back 3s, forcing Payne to take her first timeout. However, Colorado ended the flurry courtesy of bonus free throws from Greer. The freshman forward had six third-quarter points and six rebounds.

The Buffaloes ended the half by making their next three shots, which included another coast-to-coast layup from Walker. The Kansas State transfer finished with nine points, a team-high four assists and two steals.

Propelled by Masogayo’s nine third-quarter points, the Buffaloes kept the RedHawks at bay even though it was an even period. After another Wooten pull-up tre-ball, Masogayo lost her shoe midway through the quarter, but didn’t stop her as she knocked down a post fade to give the Buffaloes a 19-point lead. At the end of the third, the Buffaloes led by 16 points.

“With my injury and all that type of stuff has been mentally challenging,” Masogayo said of her performance. “My teammates have been invoking a lot of confidence in me … So it’s a great thing to have my teammates and coaches behind my back.”

The fourth quarter was mostly window dressing as the Buffaloes pushed their lead to a game-high 22 points. Fifth-year center JoJo Nworie hit a 3-pointer as Colorado held Miami to eight fourth-quarter points.

Colorado plays their last non-conference game on Tuesday against the Northern Colorado Bears. Tip-off from CU Events Center is set for 7 p.m. MT (ESPN+).
