BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes tied the Kansas State Wildcats 1-1 in a tightly contested match on Saturday afternoon.
Just one week after the Buffs took the Colorado Cup in an outstanding day of soccer, they were faced with a much tougher challenge.
Despite giving up a quick goal just six minutes into the match, the Buffs maintained control of the ball for the majority of the game. Unfortunately for the black and gold, not much came to fruition from their efforts. Kansas State’s goalkeeper, Murphy Sheaff, played an outstanding match where she saved multiple shots under intense pressure from the CU attack in the first half.
However, just 12 minutes into the second half, Shyra James scored off a pass from team captain Rachel Rosen.
Both players recently announced that they were returning for their final season at Colorado and have made immediate impacts early in the spring season.
The Buffs did not make the breakthroughs they would’ve hoped, given their amount of offensive pressure, and will look to improve upon the tie in their next spring game versus in-state rival Colorado State on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. MT.
