The Colorado Buffaloes women’s golf squad headed down to Highlands Ranch, Colorado this past weekend for the Ron Moore Intercollegiate tournament, finishing in eighth place out of 15 teams. The event took place over three days with 18 holes of golf each day at the University of Denver Golf Club.

The Buffs have had success in previous years at the 6,220-yard course, placing in second last year and third in 2024. They started off slow on Friday, firing a combined 292 (+4) to end the day in 10th place, but were still just three shots out of the top-5. Saturday proved to be difficult for most of the field, as Colorado slipped to 6-over par for the round, but still climbed up two places to eighth. The team’s best performance of the weekend came on Sunday, where they totaled a 289 (+3), but it wasn’t enough to move up from eighth on the leaderboard.

The UNLV Rebels took advantage of the high scores on Friday and Saturday, getting ahead of the pack and finishing first at 6-under par. The Xavier University Musketeers came in a close second at 5-under par, and the Tulane University Green Wave followed them up in third.

Sophomore Brenna Higgins was Colorado’s most consistent performer throughout the tournament, posting the team’s low 54-hole score for the second consecutive week (216). She also shot the Buffaloes' only sub-par 18-hole round of the weekend, with a 71 on Sunday. Higgins finished tied for 15th on the individual leaderboard, marking her second career top-20 finish for Colorado.

Senior Maya McVey also had a strong weekend, tying for 19th at 1-over par for her fourth top-20 placement for the Buffs. Going into the tournament, she carried an impressive streak of eight consecutive rounds of par or better, before a 73 on Sunday ended the streak.

Junior Ellen O’Shaughnessy shot a 73 in her first and final rounds, carding seven birdies throughout the tournament and finishing tied for 28th at 5-over par.

Senior Carolyn Fuller saved her best for Sunday, firing a 72 with a streak of three straight birdies to climb back up to 7-over par and tied for 31st.

Sophomore Ananthi Vivek made her season debut for the Buffs and tied for 78th (+19). Freshman Isabella Piazza and sophomore Teemapat Pateetin both competed as individuals and finished tied for 73rd (+16) and 81st (+20), respectively.

Tulane’s Sophia Macias, Xavier’s Isabel Brozena and Denver’s Logan Hale all shared medalist honors at 7-under par.

Colorado has a break in competition for the next week, before traveling out to California for the Stanford Intercollegiate starting on Oct. 16.
