On Thursday night, the Colorado Buffaloes (11-4-1, Big 12 5-3) started their road trip in Arizona by dominating the Arizona Wildcats, winning 4-0. The Buffs offense steamrolled the Wildcat backline as they put up eight shots on frame, half of which hit the back of the net.

In the first half, Colorado came out swinging, looking very much like a team that had something to prove.

Several great opportunities presented themselves for the Buffaloes, but it wasn’t until after the Buffs were awarded a penalty kick that Colorado put one on the board. Reagan Kotschau took the kick and put the Buffs ahead.

With that goal, she also broke Colorado's record for penalty kick goals in a season with five.

In the 24th minute, midfielder Michaela McGowan put another one on the board. The goal was McGowan’s first goal since CU’s victory against the Denver Pioneers.

Despite several more attempts, the score remained 2-0 going into the half.

Colorado dominated the first half. The Buffs put up eight shots on goal compared to Arizona’s three. The Wildcats had three shots, but none of them were on frame

Entering the second half, Colorado did not take their foot off the gas. Jace Holley quickly scored CU's third goal of the night.

In the 74th minute, Center back Faith Leyba even got a piece of the action as she scored her first goal of the season.

Colorado’s backline impressed as they held the Wildcats to zero goals and only allowed five shots all night, none of which were on goal.

"We did a fantastic job in the back third. It's always a great thing when you can score four goals," head coach Danny Sanchez said in the postgame conference.

A dominant win like this was needed for the  Buffaloes after a tough loss to the Kansas Jayhawks and a close game against Kansas State.

Colorado improved to 5-3 in conference play and 11-4-1 on the season as they look forward to Sunday, when they will face off against the Arizona State Sun Devils (8-5-3, Big 12 3-4-1). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. MT (ESPN+).
