NAPA, Calif. – The Colorado Buffaloes women’s golf squad finished eighth at the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Wednesday. The team sent all seven rostered golfers, yet no Buffs were able to shoot under par.

Northwestern University won the tournament with a score of 3-under. The University of Southern California was the only other school to finish under par.

Six strokes separated the Buffs from the University of California at No. 4.

Morgan Miller and Vanessa Ngo tied at No. 11 individually and had the best score by a member of the black and gold at even par. Miller stayed consistent in Napa, scoring 1-under, even and 1-over. The junior claimed her second-highest placement of the season, behind her fourth-place finish at the Causeway Invitational.

Ngo competed as an individual and shot similar scores to Miller, 2-under, even and 2-over. The sophomore also claimed her second-highest finish of the season.

Francesca Sumcad and Maria Eidhagen Harrouch shot 6-over and tied at No. 31. The senior, Harrouch, dug herself into a hole in the first round, shooting 5-over. She flipped the page in the second and third rounds, scoring 1-over and even, respectively.

Sumcad shot 1-over, 2-over and 3-over in each of the three rounds. The San Jose, California native was just across the bay from her hometown, yet the geographical familiarity was of little help to her.

Carolyn Fuller competed as an individual, scoring 9-over. The sophomore shot even in the first round, giving herself a chance to compete in the later rounds. Unfortunately for Fuller, she shot 5-over in the second and 4-over in the third.

Talented freshmen Sydney Givens and Ellen O’Shaughnessy did not look like themselves in Napa. The underclassmen shot 9-over and 11-over, respectively. Givens was challenged in the second round, where she shot 7-over. The Austin native’s second-round struggles overshadowed her 2-over in the first and even par in the third.

O’Shaughnessy shot 5-over in the first and second rounds, taking herself out of the individual race before the final round. She settled in on the final day, shooting 1-over, good for a No. 51 finish.

With the Big 12 Championship less than a week away, the Buffs need to flush their past two tournaments and focus on what's ahead. The first round of the championship will be played in Hockley, Texas on Tuesday.

Winning the Big 12 Championship would give the Buffs an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals starting on May 5.
