Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis reportedly hospitalized

Redshirt freshman quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis was reportedly hospitalized after experiencing a medical emergency on Wednesday.
His father, T.C. Lewis, released a statement on X, saying that his son had experienced a medical emergency at the athletic facility during practice. The statement also said he was rushed to the hospital and is receiving treatment.
The University of Colorado Athletics released a statement regarding the matter on Thursday.
“Colorado Athletics extends our full support to JuJu and his family through this medical emergency," the school said. "He remains in the thoughts of every CU player, coach, and staff member and we will continue to assist in any way we can in his full recovery. His health and well-being remain our top priority during this time.”
Neither CU Athletics nor Carlton Lewis commented on the details of JuJu’s hospitalization.
Lewis has been involved in the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback controversy this season. He hasn't seen the field since week four, on the road against Baylor.
JuJu started three games this season, throwing for 733 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions before he was benched in favor of junior quarterback Isaac Wilson after a two-interception game against Baylor.
Head coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders has held his decision to bench Lewis close to the chest.
“I would love JuJu to come in here and tell you what happened,” Sanders said after benching Lewis for the Texas Tech game.
Sanders was also unclear whether Lewis was still fighting for the starting job this Tuesday, ahead of Colorado’s matchup against Kansas State.
“I’m not going to go down that rabbit hole because I’m so honest that honesty gets you in trouble,” Sanders said at his media availability.
Besides Lewis, Colorado only has two other quarterbacks on its roster: Wilson and Kaneal Sweetwyne.
