Colorado women’s hoops in running for four-star recruit
Colorado basketball is on the rise again.
Four-star recruit Sienna Williams has narrowed down her commitment to six schools: Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, Michigan, North Carolina and the Colorado Buffaloes.
Williams, a 6-foot-4 forward from Louisville, Colorado, is ranked as ESPN’s 51st recruit in the nation after averaging 24.3 points and 13.8 rebounds per game for Monarch High School last year. The class of 2027 recruit also averaged over two assists, two steals and four blocks per game for the Coyotes last year. She played only12 games her junior year, according to her MaxPreps profile, but led her team to the 6A playoffs her sophomore year in 2025.
Last year, Williams set a new career-high in points against Chaparral, scoring 34 points and bringing in 21 rebounds with five blocks. Her career-high in boards came during her sophomore year when she had 30 rebounds and 10 offensive. She’s had 31 double-doubles in the last two years in 36 games played. Combining that explosiveness with consistency will certainly attract college scouts for Colorado’s top women’s hoops prospect.
The Buffs have the hometown advantage over the other schools in her top six, with the CU Events Center just 15 minutes away from Monarch High School. The Buffs only have one senior forward on their 2026-27 roster in graduate transfer Anete Adler. Williams could fill that role with her skill set.
Still, Colorado has struggled to recruit in-state, offering but failing to land the state’s number one and two prospects in five-star Brihanna Crittendon and four-star Peyton Jones from the class of 2026. The two committed to Texas and Utah, respectively. Crittendon created some buzz for the Buffs, having Colorado in her final six. Even from the class of 2025, Colorado’s number three prospect Brooklyn Stewert chose Oklahoma after receiving an offer from the Buffs. The trend even goes back to the class of 2022 with top-10 nationally ranked Raegan Beers, who had Colorado in her final five, but chose Oregon State instead.
The Buffs have to go back to the class of 2021 for their last four-star or higher commit from the Centennial state with Kindyll Wetta. Williams could be another name in a long list of Colorado hoops talent that head coach JR Payne and the Buffs failed to bring in.
However, if the Buffs add Williams, she would be the first commitment from the class of 2027 after failing to bring in any recruits rated three stars or higher in the class of 2026. Still, Colorado had notable transfers, including Adler from Boston University and Mecailin Marshall from Tulane.
CU also retained much of its roster from last year, including guard Zyanna Walker, forward Logyn Greer and Claire O’Connor, who could be impactful in the upcoming season for the Buffs. Williams could fit nicely into the squad with a rotational need at forward come 2027.
Excitement still surrounds Boulder, Colorado, as the Buffs are in the final six for four-star or higher commits during the past two years.
