Deion Sanders enters College Football 27

On Monday, EA Sports announced that Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders will make his debut in College Football 27.

Unlike most of the other coaches, Coach Prime was not included in the game at launch on July 9. This was seemingly due to ongoing negotiations over Sanders’ compensation. 

“If I’m not in the game, they’re probably not paying enough,” Sanders said during his main stage press conference at Big 12 Football Media Days in July.

Coach Prime isn't the only coach included in this new update. Unspecified coaches and mascots will be added to the game on Tuesday when the update releases. When the game launched, seven coaches, including Sanders, were not included. 

The coaches that opted out of the game are UNC’s Bill Belichick, Miami’s Mario Cristobal, Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, Utah State’s Bronco Mendenhall, Southern Mississippi’s Blake Anderson and North Texas’ Neal Brown.

It is unclear how many of these coaches have since opted to have their models in the game, or whether any of them will join Sanders in the update that will be released on Tuesday.

This is the first time that Sanders will be in the game. Sanders also opted out of the past three iterations of the game over the past two years. 

The announcement drew heavy criticism on X, with multiple users in the comments making remarks about Colorado's recent struggles. This was especially the case after the Buffs’ most recent game against the Northwestern Wildcats. 

Colorado started the season with a win against Georgia Tech and looked like a much better team than last season. The next week, the Buffaloes beat Weber State but gave up 21 points. Now, against the Wildcats, Colorado lost 41-7, exposing Colorado's weaknesses.

One user on X remarked, “Can’t win enough on the field so he needs virtual wins to supplement it.”

Not all the comments are negative, however, as some users are excited to have Sanders in the game. 

Another user on X remarked, “The amount of Colorado rebuilds is about to go CRAZY!!!”
