Colorado Buffaloes striker Hope Leyba received two honors this week, winning Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week and being named to TopDrawerSoccer’s (TDS) Team of the Week.Â
Leyba was in great form, as she scored all four of the Buffs’ goals this past week. She became the first Colorado player to record multiple hat tricks in a season last Thursday in the Buffs’ 3-1 win vs Iowa State.Â
She continued her strong form against Houston, slotting in an 86th-minute game-winning goal to lift the Buffs to a 1-0 win.
Leyba continues to lead the NCAA in goals this season with 13. She also leads the country in goals per game (1.18) and points (26).
She split the Big 12 honor with TCU’s Seven Castain, who scored three goals last week and has helped lead the No. 7-ranked Horned Frogs to a 9-1 start to the season.
Leyba was also named as one of CU’s Student Athletes of the Month for September, highlighting her success on and off the field.
The striker will look to continue her dominance in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday at 6 p.m. MT. The Buffaloes (8-1-2, Big 12 2-0-1) face off against TCU (9-1, Big 12 3-0) at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
